Sterling Roswell/Awkward Silences
Thursday, 05 May 2016 18:32
June sees debut Blang releases from two new signings.
Sterling Roswell, ex Spacemen 3 cosmonaut (playing on their classic album "The Perfect Prescription") releases his debut Blang single on June 6 as a limited edition 7" single and download. "Atom Brain Monster-Rock!" is a lurching blank-eyed swamp thing dripping fuzz and tremelo over your turntable as Roswell calls from the shadows about Obama keeping Cameron's brain in a pickle jar. Album due later in the year. Sterling talks about the single towards the end of this interview. (We're the new record label btw, not the old one he refers to earlier.)
Coming next up the Blang pipeline will be our first album with New York's freak-folk/experimental rock enigma Seth Faergolzia, a second album from Liverpool's mighty Sheepy and a 4 track EP from Sergeant Buzfuz.
The next Blang night is at the Windmill in Brixton on Thursday July 21 featuring Seth Faergolzia on tour with his new band Multibird, Owen and the Eyeballs (theatrical cartoon pop), a short 15 min solo set from Sterling Roswell and another short solo set tbc.
Stay tuned but don't drop out.

Blang tenth anniversary shows and album
Thursday, 13 August 2015 15:44
Blang is ten years old next month. We began in September 2005 with the "Fruit Machine" compilation CD of acts who'd played at the Blang nights at the 12 Bar Club. To celebrate we host two birthday bashes at the new 12 Bar Club on Holloway Road on October 1st and 8th with six acts each night. See the Gigs page. We release our second compilation album "Lucky Dip" to mark the occasion, with tracks from the Blang archives. This will be a download album (free from this website for a limited period of time) and a limited edition CD given out free at the shows.
The Autumn should also see records from new Blang signings Paul Hawkins and The Awkward Silences who have an album and singles in the can.
